What are Honda SUV Models (5 Picks!)
Since 1948, Honda has been providing the world with reliable, easy-to-use cars that are sporty and will take you wherever you need to go with little difficulty. If you are currently in the market for a new car, Honda is one of the first dealerships you should look into because there are quite a few options to choose from. However, what are the SUVs that they have available?
The Honda CR-V, Honda HR-V, Honda CR-V Hybrid, Honda Pilot, and Honda Passport are all Honda SUV models. The Honda CR-V, HR-V, and Honda CR-V Hybrid are all crossover SUVs, while the Honda Pilot and Honda Passport are full-size SUVs. The Honda CR-V is the most popular Honda crossover SUV.
Below is a list of Honda’s currently available SUVs alongside a couple of their features. All of these options have plenty of strengths and weaknesses but overall, they are great vehicle choices, so consider carefully before making a decision.
The Honda CR-V has made its way to the top of the list as the most popular Honda SUV currently on the market. This is largely thanks to its spacious interior and smooth ride. Indeed, the ride quality of the CR-V is incredibly difficult to beat. The cabin is quiet and comfortable and no matter where you’re sitting, you are guaranteed a smooth and luxurious ride.
In addition to having plenty of cargo space in the trunk, there are plenty of small storage areas where you can keep odds and ends whenever you need them. No matter where you’re sitting, you will have a place to put your things.
The only problem you may find with the CR-V is its sluggish acceleration. The CR-V does have off-roading capabilities and can handle perfectly well, but if you were to climb an extra steep hill, you’d have to push the gas pedal to the floor. This isn’t necessarily a huge price to pay, but it can get irritating over time.
If nothing else, you should at least look into getting a Honda HR-V because of the price. Honda HR-V models offer a variety of trim packages from basic to sport to luxury, but all of them are quite reasonably priced. You will be getting a pretty luxurious SUV for a fairly reasonable price.
The HR-V also comes equipped with a “magic” seat. This seat can be folded down, raised up, or removed to accommodate large pieces of gear or cargo. This gives the HR-V’s cabin a sense of versatility that can be hard to top.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the LX trim packages are fairly limited in their features. Sadly, the list of things it doesn’t have is longer than the list of things it does. While this isn’t the end of the world, it might be somewhat disappointing and inconvenient at times.
Honda CR-V Hybrid
The Honda CR-V Hybrid offers most of the same perks as the CR-V, but there are a couple of other things that are pretty nice. For instance, AWD always comes as the standard on these hybrid models, which is not always the case with hybrids. This is why the CRV Hybrid is an excellent choice especially for those who enjoy off-roading.
The braking on the hybrid is not to be ignored. These brakes have the ability to go from 60 to zero in 125 feet or less without jostling the passengers too much. You are guaranteed to have a pretty smooth ride thanks to this. These brakes should hold up very well no matter what.
The only issue with the Honda CR-V Hybrid is that it often has a noisy cabin when you’re driving on the freeway. This is the case for most cars, but there is a lack of insulation in the cabin which means the noise will be twice as prominent. The cabin is quiet on neighborhood roads but on the highway, it sometimes becomes obnoxious.
The Honda Pilot is also a great SUV to consider. One of the best things about this SUV is its spacious cabin and seating capacity. Some trim models reduce the capacity to seven passengers, but most can seat at least eight people. This makes it a great option for families with lots of kids.
The Pilot also has a new and improved nine-speed transmission which has greatly improved the smooth glide of the vehicle. Why does this matter so much? You should keep in mind that the nine-speed transmission used to be reserved for the top trim packages, but now it’s available in most packages, so more powerful engines are becoming standard in large vehicles.
However, if you value appearance above all else, the Pilot might not be the right choice for you. It is a sporty vehicle, but the exterior remains somewhat plain and unexciting. Again, this says nothing about the car’s integrity, but it does tend to leave some people underwhelmed.
Last but not least, we have the Honda Passport which is just as credible as its compatriots. The Passport is the perfect option for those who love to go off-roading often but also need a commuter SUV. At least three of the Passport’s trim packages come with AWD options, and the Elite package comes with AWD as the standard drivetrain.
In addition, the Passport also has eight inches of ground clearance to boast. This puts it slightly ahead of the CRV as far as the off-roading game is concerned. If you enjoy hitting the dirt every once in a while, you might want to give the Passport some serious consideration.
Unfortunately, if you want the best, you will most certainly have to pay for the best. Thankfully, you can often get AWD with other trim packages, but the elite is generally the best. That means it is also the most expensive one, costing anywhere from $44,000 and more. If you have the money for it, you might as well, but if not, you may have to sacrifice that AWD.
Overall, Honda makes quite a few SUVs that are each wonderful in their own ways, and they even have a hybrid option for the Honda CR-V.
