Jeep Grand Wagoneer Seat Upholstery Restoration and Repair

Jeep Grand Wagoneer Seat Upholstery Restoration and Repair

The front seat upholstery of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer needed a little TLC. Mainly it’s the driver seat, but if I am going to do one seat, I am going to do both to keep the look consistent throughout the Jeep.

As a result, I decided to have the seats professionally repaired and reconditioned. In talking with Kevin from CCI of Raleigh (Creative Colors International), he advised me that if I wanted the Jeep seats perfect I really should pay to have them recovered in new leather. With this said, he told me he could make the seats look a whole lot better.

After considering the costs, I decided I would give the leather repair and reconditioning process a chance.

Let’s take a look at the photos:

Here is the “before” photo of the 30-year-old Jeep seats. You can see where the seat had been repaired once before, and Kevin said he could not completely make the old repair go away. He did his very best to mask the repair though.

Note: THIS IS NOT A DIY PROJECT! I don’t care what they say on YouTube. It’s not that expensive to hire a pro, so just hire them.

Kevin arrived at 8:30 am and finished the driver seat at 2 pm. He had another appointment, so we will reschedule to finish the passenger seat.

Here are photos of the Jeep seats during the process:

Kevin had to work to remove much of the old repair that was raised up and making it difficult to get smooth.

I think you can see now why this is Not A DIY Project!

Okay, so now for the good part. You can see just how laborious the project is to complete. I watched several YouTube videos that made the project look easy, but it is not. Kevin is a highly trained professional and I was more than happy to pay him for his expertise and work.

Here are the “after” photos of the repaired and reconditioned Jeep Grand Wagoneer driver seat:

Kevin said the seats would look very good, but not perfect. I agree, and I am pleased with the results given the price and when comparing it to how it looked before. Having the leather repaired and reconditioned vs. the cost to recover the Jeep seats in brand new leather was a good decision for me. Eventually, I may choose to recover the seats, but for now, this really dressed up the seats and I am no longer embarrassed to show off the Jeep.

The only thing I need to do now is steam clean the fabric. I can really see how dirty it is now that the leather looks so good.

    Lovely work.
Would you happen to know where I could buy on the internet a pair of front seat mounting brackets for a Wagoneer 1987?.
