Which Ram Truck Is The Most Luxurious? Is Ram a luxury brand?
When looking for a luxury vehicle, pickup trucks don’t usually come to mind. However, some of RAM’s new models have been changing the game. One truck, in particular, stands out against the rest of the lineup as a luxury vehicle.
Although RAM is not a luxury brand, the 2020 RAM 1500 with Laramie Longhorn or Limited trim won the 2020 luxury car of the year award from Cars.com. The RAM 1500 is the most luxurious option from the current RAM lineup, with a leather interior and advanced technology features.
The 2021 RAM pickup lineup has some great options, but the RAM 1500 beats out the rest if you’re looking for luxury. The RAM 1500 combines all the elements of luxury you could want without sacrificing the functionality of a good truck throughout all of its trim options.
2021 Ram 1500 Luxury Features
Even though the 2021 Ram 1500 did not win the Luxury Car of the Year Award like the previous year, it was still definitely in the running. This line of pickups changed the game of what a luxury car could be. If you love the functionality of a truck but don’t want to sacrifice your comfort or style, this pickup is a great choice.
The 2021 Ram 1500 comes in six different trim options. Available trim options are as follows: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. The further you go along this trim packages list, the more expensive the truck gets.
However, the more expensive the trim packages also correspond with higher luxury. For the true luxury experience, we recommend the Limited Longhorn or Limited trim. The Limited is pure luxury, while the Limited Longhorn finds a middle ground between high luxury and the rugged appeal of a classic pickup.
Features like a digital mirror, eye-level stats display, a touchscreen dash, and 3-D color graphics make for an easy and relaxing driving experience. The digital rearview mirror can switch from a regular reflection to a video screen that displays what’s happening behind you as seen from a rearview camera.
This simplifies so many tasks, like merging, backing up, parking, and trailering. The “head-up” stats display is a favorite feature. You have the option to project important information like MPH and navigation onto the windshield above the steering wheel right at your eye level. This way, you never have to take your eyes off the road to see everything you need.
The touchscreen in the center of the dash is an impressive 12 inches diagonal and has high-quality graphics. It functions as easily as your smartphone, with pinch zoom and total customization but also goes a step further with the addition of split-screen capabilities. You can divide the screen to display any combination of music, navigation, climate control, or smartphone connection.
The smartphone connection is available for both iPhone and Android users to easily display contacts, calls, music, navigation, and more. You can also set up a mobile hotspot from the touchscreen for all of your passengers. Under the touchscreen, there is a media center with plenty of hookups for all of your tech needs.
There are auxiliary ports, USB ports, and multiple 115-volt outlets. Different trims will allow you to customize the number of ports and outlets included in your truck.
Drivers of the Ram 1500 can also opt for a 7-inch screen between their RMP and MPH gauges. It uses 3-D color graphics to display all the pertinent information.
Most of the models, excluding the Tradesman and Big Horn, have an impressive 19 speaker sound system that maxes out at 900 watts. Ram’s noise cancellation technology eliminates road noise and vehicle sounds. With this technology, you only hear the sounds you want to.
Big Horn and Trademan trim packages come with premium cloth interiors, the Laramie and Rebel have leather trim, but the Limited Longhorn and Limited have entirely leather seats in various colors. The Limited Longhorn is black and a medium brown. The Limited trim comes with the option between all-black and indigo or a frosty beige combo.
No matter the material, the seating will be remarkably comfortable. Pickups are not usually known for much room in the backseat, but the Ram 1500 boasts 45.2 inches of rear legroom. The backseat also has eight different degrees of reclining for the ultimate passenger comfort.
The roomy backseat also opens up the availability of plenty of in-floor storage space under the bench. Adding up the in-floor storage with the roomy center console, the Ram 1500 advertises a total of 151.1 liters of interior storage volume.
2021 Ram 1500 Power and Capability
Even with these incredible luxury features, the Ram 1500 does not sacrifice the rugged power needed from a good pickup truck. If you get the available 5.7L V8 hybrid eTorque technology engine, Ram promises a towing capacity of 12,750 pounds.
While that engine will give you the best towing capacity, the 3.0L diesel V6 engine will provide excellent gas mileage with an estimated 33 mpg on the highway. The difference in towing capacity is hardly significant since it can still handle up to 12,560 pounds.
If you want a luxury engine, Ram just put out a new option that is only available on their newly launched 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. Ram claims that the engine is the most powerful factory engine ever. It is a 6.2L Supercharged V8 engine with 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. It claims a 0-60 mph acceleration of 4.5 seconds and has a maximum speed of 118 mph.
The weakest engine option on the RAM 1500 is still a decent option for a lot of drivers. The 3.6L V6 engine also has eToque technology and can produce 269 pound-feet of torque. It maxes at 305 horsepower and has a towing capacity of 7,730 pounds.
Ram provides a lot of helpful features to make towing easier. The trailer tire pressure monitoring system, shown on the 7-inch driver’s display screen, makes towing much more relaxing. There’s also a trailer light check system, a 360-degree camera, reverse steering control knob adjustments, and blind-spot monitoring.
